Janelle Hazell

Janelle Hazell joined Rue in 2021 as the Chief Operating Officer with over 20 years of industry experience. As an operations professional, Janelle is responsible for maintaining focus on achieving bottom line results, while formulating and implementing practical business solutions. She works to ensure the team is working effectively and efficiently, as well as delivering desirable results for clients.

She is a licensed property, casualty, life, and health insurance producer and has earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, Associate in Supervisory Management (AISM) designation, and the Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS) designation. Prior to joining Rue, Janelle worked at an International Insurance Carrier, in New Jersey, as a Commercial Underwriter for 3 years, then moved to sunny south Florida, where she worked at a local insurance agency as an Account Manager, Commercial Lines Manager, and Operations Manager for 10 years. Upon moving to Virginia, Janelle worked for 8 years as the P&C Client Services Manager and Director Client Experience leader for a national brokerage and consulting firm. Janelle received her BA in English from Rutgers University and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a non-profit, public service sorority. She has been a member of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) since 2007.
