An employee of Rue Insurance has a cousin in Puerto Rico who has been without power for over 50 days. In order for her cousin to get her daily asthma medication she has to start up her Jeep to power her inhaler. Power in her part of the island is still out and it will take months for it to be restored. She said that it looks like their Christmas will be dark.
After searching high and low, she bought a generator but had no way of getting it to Puerto Rico. The best she could find was a $600 shipping charge from UPS.
Word came through that a church, Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, hired a 53’ trailer and is loading it with supplies to send to Puerto Rico. This church is working with a sister church, Calvary Chapel of Puerto Rico, in helping to distribute supplies to people impacted by Hurricane Maria.
So this generator and a host of other supplies that Rue Employees collected are going down to Puerto Rico in a few weeks.
If you want to find out more about the work that Calvary Chapel is doing, check out the Old Bridge church’s website. The Church in Puerto Rico can be found here on Facebook. Their page shows photos of the relief effort.
