Most individuals believe that there isn’t anything that distinguishes one insurance company or policy from another besides price. Nothing can be further from the truth. Not all insurance companies or policies are the same. There can be huge differences in the amount of coverage and services offered.
An insurance policy is a legal contract. There is some standardization, but even two policies from the same company may have different endorsements, coverage amounts and other details. It’s important to know how the policy language extends and restricts coverage, where there could be gaps, and how to cover these gaps by other types of insurance policies. Some companies offer policy endorsements or additional coverages that are a better fit for your business and operations than those from another company.
One of the advantages of using an independent agent is that we represent a number of insurers with different products and can assist clients in fitting the right product at the right price.
Before you make decisions to reduce or eliminate insurance coverages, assess your risk of loss. What are your exposures? What can you lose? What exposures represent losses you may not be able to afford? What exposures can you retain? Carefully chose an insurance agent who can help assess your potential degree of risk.
We can give you a fair assessment of any insurance policies you may be considering, even if we don’t represent that company.
